Got Two SSO IDs? How to Delete or Merge Duplicates

Creating a second SSO ID by mistake is common, but keeping both active will eventually lock you out of government recruitment forms. Here is how to deactivate the duplicate and merge your identity data into one permanent account.

Understanding the options

Deleting vs. Merging: What’s the difference?

The official portal uses the term “Deactivate,” which effectively does both. You cannot simply delete an account and make it vanish into thin air, but you can consolidate them so your Aadhaar or Jan Aadhaar is freed up.

Deleting

Deactivating an Account

You permanently disable a secondary, unwanted citizen SSO ID so it can never be used to log in again. This releases your linked documents.

Merging

Consolidating Data

You take an old citizen ID and link its data directly into your official government employee ID.

If the portal is blocking your new form because “Jan Aadhaar is already registered to another user,” going through this process is the exact fix you need.
Step-by-step guide

Deleting a duplicate Citizen SSO ID

If you simply have two regular citizen accounts and want to get rid of the extra one, follow this path.

  • Log in to the duplicate

Sign in at the official www address (https://sso.rajasthan.gov.in/signin) using the exact SSO ID and password you want to get rid of.

  • Open your profile

Click your profile picture/icon at the top of the dashboard, then click the pencil icon to open the Update Profile section.

  • Click Deactivate

Scroll to the very bottom of the profile page. Find and click the “Deactivate Account” button. A confirmation pop-up will appear—click YES.

  • Verify with OTP

Tick the consent checkbox and click Send OTP. Enter the code sent to your registered mobile number, then click Verify.

Result: That duplicate ID is permanently deactivated, and you are immediately logged out. Your Aadhaar and Jan Aadhaar data are now free to be used on your single, primary account.

Merging a Citizen ID into a Government Employee ID

Did you recently get a state govt job? You need to merge your old student/citizen account into your new official employee record so you don’t lose your past data.

  • Sign in with your Citizen ID

Log in using your old, regular citizen SSO ID (the one you want to merge away).

  • Open Update Profile

Just like above, click the pencil icon at the top of your dashboard to access your profile settings.

  • Start the deactivate flow

Scroll to the bottom and click Deactivate Account. Tick the consent box, trigger the OTP to your mobile, and verify it.

  • Choose the Merge option

Instead of a plain deactivation, the system will offer you an option to merge. Choose Merge with Government Employee ID.

  • Enter your Employee details

Input your official government employment details when prompted (such as your employee code, SIPF, or Sanstha Aadhaar Number – SAN).

  • Confirm

Review the details carefully and click Merge SSO ID.

Result: Your old citizen history is now tied to your employee record. From today forward, you will exclusively log in using your Government Employee SSO ID to access portals like Shala Darpan.
Read before you confirm

What happens to your pending applications?

Before you hit that final confirm button, here is exactly what happens to your pending certificates, receipts, and ongoing job forms.

Recruitment History

Completed recruitment forms (for RPSC, RSSB, or RSMSSB) are safely preserved. If you merge a citizen ID into an employee ID, that history moves with you.

Pending eMitra Payments

If you have half-filled forms or pending token payments for utility bills on the duplicate account, they might get stuck. Finish these before deactivating.

Old Receipts

Once deactivated, you cannot log back in to print an old receipt or certificate from that specific dashboard. Download all necessary documents first.

Troubleshooting

Common errors when trying to delete an account

Sometimes the portal won’t let you deactivate easily. If the process fails, it usually traces back to one of these three roadblocks.

Data Mismatch

Profile Details Don’t Match

If your name, date of birth, or gender on the old SSO ID profile does not perfectly match your live Jan Aadhaar records, the system might block the deactivation to prevent fraud. You must update the old profile details first.

Timeout

Session Expired

The portal will automatically log you out if you take too long to enter the OTP. Keep your phone nearby and enter the code quickly.

Active Role

Active Government Mappings

If the ID you are trying to delete is currently mapped to active government app roles (like an active invigilator duty), the automated system may block you. You will need help desk clearance to proceed.

Job Applicants

Recruitment forms and your data

Why job applicants run into this problem more than anyone else.

Do not create a third one

If you are applying for upcoming 2026 recruitment exams, having duplicate accounts is a massive red flag. The system strictly checks your identity documents. Trying to make another new account just makes the tangle worse.

Your history stays safe

When you merge properly, your admit cards and application data are preserved on the government servers. You won’t lose the benefits of your previous records.

Can’t get in?

What if you are locked out of the duplicate account?

You cannot merge or delete an account you cannot open. If you know you have a second raj SSO ID but forgot its password, or the mobile number attached to it is dead, you have to regain access first.

1. Find the Username

Use the Forgot SSO ID SMS tool (send RJ SSO to 9223166166) to search and find the exact username of the duplicate account.

2. Reset the Password

Use the Forgot Password tool online to reset its access using an OTP.

3. Lost Mobile Number? Get Manual Help

If the mobile number is completely gone, call the customer care help desk or visit a local eMitra kiosk. Explain that you need to merge two accounts but lost access to the old one. The staff can verify your identity manually and help clear the duplicate.

Merge & Delete specific FAQ

Can I undo a deactivation or merge?
No. Once an SSO ID is deactivated or merged into an employee ID, the action is permanent. Make absolutely sure you are keeping the correct primary account before you confirm the final OTP.
Can I merge two regular Citizen accounts together?
The system primarily supports merging a Citizen account into a Government Employee account. If you just have two Citizen accounts, you simply deactivate the duplicate one, which releases your Jan Aadhaar number so your main account can use it.
Will merging delete my Shala Darpan or SIPF data?
No. If you are a government employee merging an old citizen account into your official state employee account, your official work data remains intact.
Is there a fee to merge or delete accounts?
No. Managing your digital identity through the official portal, or even downloading your data, is completely free.
